Goodday my sweet friends and lovely supporters. I am opening up TWO commission slots. These are for lined and colored character pieces with simple shading and simple backgrounds. Follow the links below for examples of this style.

$30 per piece. Claim your slot in the comments and I will message you.

Animals and humanoid figures will be accepted. Only one subject per piece. I will veer toward “bust” poses but might do full-body if the subject is a quadruped.

My only stipulation is that I will not draw more than one character.

Happy hunting!

  • Happy 15 years, DA w00t!

  • How long have you been on DeviantArt?
I joined DeviantArt in May of 2008, but I couldn't even use the site for a while because I had dial-up, and I needed stronger internet to download a browser that would support the site. Yes, I had dial-up in 2008.

  • What does your username mean?
It's really nothing but a reference to myself at this point. It was originally a username for a roleplay forum I created with a friend. We facilitated roleplaying in the Lion King and Balto universes, so I combined character names from the films for my name (Nuka from TLKII and Aleu from BaltoII). But I really just got lucky and ended up making a name I liked, and no one else online has been using it!

  • Describe yourself in three words.
    questioner, writer, lover

  • Are you left or right handed?
    Right

  • What was your first deviation?
I think my first deviation was "Don't Go to Bed Angry," but for some reason it's not up anymore. Come to think of it I don't even know where I'd find that piece now.

  • What is your favourite type of art to create?
    Digital animal cartooning.

  • If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
I'd love to be able to make plushies and dolls.

  • What was your first favourite?
According to my favorites' chronology, it was "The Lion King" by erickenji The Lion King by erickenji

  • What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
    Digital animal cartooning.

  • Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Probably RedbuzzarddArt formerly Rednight, Redbuzzardd, Lordvepar, among other things. Her anatomy and creativity have been inspiring me since I was first dabbling in illustration and digital art.

  • If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
That would have to be TheProtobabe Huggle!

  • How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Well, This-Land EffraSorbus Kirsui IfreannVII have all been essential to TLKGO, the Lion King roleplaying forum that meant a lot to me as a young teenager and continues to bring me joy now. They were some of my first internet friends, back in 2007 or something #1

  • What are your preferred tools to create art?
If not photoshop and a graphics tablets, then pencil and a fine-tip, black marker.

  • What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
My cozy, comfy home. All kinds of things in the world inspire me, but I feel most ready and eager to do art when I'm at home.

  • What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
    I can't say I have DA memories.

:earth: NEWS :earth:
Hello to everyone who may have forgotten long ago that they ever chose to watch me O__O
As you may be able to tell, I have fallen out of the Deviant world for quite a while. Allow me to update you on my splendifferous escapades.

Since we last spoke, I have graduated high school, fought some new battles, met someone I really love, and overall had a pretty great time just being alive. I'll be starting my second year at Webster University in St. Louis in about a month. I decided a couple years ago that Art was not the way to go for me career-wise, and though I have backtracked on that decision a bit, I still think it's a wise one. I decided to major in Philosophy and Religious Studies. No, I do not have much of a clue what I'll be doing with those credentials, but I chose them because they interest me to no end -- they just feel right to study for me.

Meanwhile, I have been evolving through various artistic stages. After deciding that I didn't love art enough to do it every day for the rest of my working life, I allowed myself to drop it almost completely for a while. I still had the instinct to concoct ideas and dig up inspiration from beautiful things, but I lacked the interest to create anything. I don't know if that stretch of dryness was good for me, but it doesn't seem to have hurt much.

Then in February my boyfriend's dad asked me to be his small business's featured artist for the art walk in my hometown. I thought it was a good chance to take art seriously for a while, make a few new things, and shamelessly put my best work up for display for both those I love and those I don't know. It ended up being a really exciting experience, and since then I have been chasing a part-time freelance career creating commissions upon request. I ended up not being hired anywhere back home for the summer, so I directed my energies toward building myself up as an artist and a businessperson. I've sold several things and met several new people and customers as a result -- I even have my own business cards like a grown-up person :D

Right now I'm selling mostly realistic pencil drawings and murals because that's what people are wanting. I'm also working on a new print series that I'm really excited about, but I have no good predictions for when it will be released. Since realistic work is a bit boring for me, I've been using my digital work strictly for play and really hoping I can sell them once they're finished. Relying strictly on personalized commissions and on-and-off jobs won't do it for me for very long.

So things are going quite well for me. I think I'm finally finding the right place for art in my life, which has been a long and frustrating conundrum since about 8th grade. This is the first time I've found a vocation that really feels right, something that is fulfilling and makes me proud. Though I have no plans to work tirelessly at art like I used to, I'm finally starting to feel like an artist again.

Hope to chat with some of you whom I haven't seen in ages. Thanks to all who read.
Nuk
